Autobiography of despair.
From the moment he was conceived, his destiny was laid out to be one of confusion and apprehension. The three sisters have laughed upon his arrival. The wheel of fortune pointed – ‘lose a turn’, for indeed, his was meaningless.
Whenever anybody spoke of him, a grin of irony appeared. Every time he opened his mouth, no one listened, just that same grin appeared, but no on his face. His would go numb, but only on the outside. Those years of irony did not make him laugh, for it was on his expense. His anger and despair grew within him, they were developed and nurtured with every encounter, until finally... But we are ahead of ourselves.
As you know, he was born to the finest clan, the most respected one, the leading conclave of the race. His own family was one of genuine creativity, a common trait among his clan, but at a maximized efficiency within his close relatives. They were the driving forces of technology and knowledge in the society, a fact that gave them a noble status. The interactions between the clans were on the functionality level, and so his senseless existence did not effect the more degenerate ones. They did not pay attention to the intellectual manifestation of his clan, which made them completely unaware of him, a fact they praise every day, now.
You may think that his heritage was not the cause of desperation and unavoidable ending, but you are mistaken. His parents’ uniqueness, with a little assistance of pure bad luck, added the powerful touch of irony to his fate. Do you understand? He was the greatest of his clan. The most ingenious, the most creative, purely the best. I can imagine the grin spreading on your face. His ideas were grand, none like you have ever seen. The world was at his disposal; he misunderstood nothing but fate, and understood everything, but god. He could have improved their world beyond imagination, and they grinned. He could have perfected their society, and they shut their ears. But he had the last laugh.
You probably ask whether his parents had a reason or were they just plain cruel, but they were neither. The unfortunate society worked differently than yours. The entire elders counsel worked day and night to figure out his fate. It was not simply given; it required the combined forces of intellect of all the elders. They were surprised at the result of their work, but they were too sure of it to change it, to their demise. After it was found, his parents’ pleading did not help. No one could question the elders’ resolution, but at the end, even they regretted it. When it was too late, everyone said he was sorry, everyone apologized – but he grinned. It was the first and last time for him. Nothing mattered anymore, just the end. For him, they were all beyond absolution. If he could, he would have abolished fate herself, but he had to settle for his clan. They didn’t listen, and now they would die. As he stopped grinning, the Mind Clan disappeared, and with them, their insignificant genius – Never.
